From graduate internship to marketing manager
Daphne's career at BVCM began as a graduate intern. "Nine years ago, I was looking for a graduate internship where I could also write my thesis. I ended up at BVCM and immediately had a good feeling after my first job interview. Carel Alberts, commercial director at the time, said at the time, 'Right now we do virtually nothing with marketing, so you get all the freedom you need to set this up.' That sounded like a great opportunity and I immediately felt the space to use my creativity."
What began as an internship soon grew into a permanent position. Daphne is now ultimately responsible for the marketing team and sets the course for BVCM. "No day is the same. One minute I'm working on a strategic marketing plan, and the next I'm designing a Christmas card. Because we do almost everything ourselves, I've learned a tremendous amount over the past few years.'
Marketing at BVCM: multifaceted and dynamic
There is no such thing as a typical workday in marketing. "Of course we have fixed meeting times, but in addition to that we are constantly running different projects. Things like the website and social media are constantly being optimized and we also regularly look with sales at points for improvement in our working methods and software we use. In addition, we use two different marketing approaches, since we want to attract not only clients, but also candidates. This requires a different communication strategy, which is why we work closely with our recruitment team."
In addition to working with her own team, Daphne also works a lot with other colleagues and departments. "Marketing is much more than just campaigns and content. We monitor BVCM 's corporate identity so that everything - from contracts to presentations - is consistent and professional."
Challenges and successes
"The biggest challenge? Time," laughs Daphne. "Because we handle all marketing in-house, our department is constantly busy. We're constantly switching between different projects, but that's exactly what makes it so much fun."
One project she is particularly proud of is the launch of BVCM's revamped proposition and website in late 2024. "In just four months, we realized this - still two of us at the time. It was a big job, but I am immensely proud of the result." BVCM's return to the Credit Expo, after a 15-year absence, was also a milestone. "Together with my colleagues, we organized this from A to Z, and we received an incredibly positive response from our relations," he said.
"When I sometimes think about all that we have put up as a department, I am proud to have built this - together with my colleagues, of course - from virtually nothing."
The strength of BVCM
According to Daphne, BVCM stands out in the industry for its integrated approach to the prospect-to-cash process, where innovation and personal contact go hand in hand. "We offer not only standard solutions, but also customized solutions and actively think along with both customers and debtors. You don't see that at every company in our industry. The customer really comes first with us, and we love to innovate!"
As an employer, BVCM also distinguishes itself with an open, approachable and results-oriented corporate culture. "The hierarchy is hardly perceptible here; you can just walk into the CEO's office with a question. In addition, there are many fun initiatives, such as gifts on special days and team activities. That makes for a pleasant and collegial working environment.
Personal growth and ambitions
In her years at BVCM, Daphne has not only strengthened her marketing and strategic skills, but also learned a valuable lesson: "To say no as well as to set boundaries." "It's in my nature to want to help everyone, but because of the workload, I've learned that that's not always possible. This is something I really had to develop. It has helped me not only in my work, but also in my private life."
And for the future? "I aim to further strengthen BVCM's market position, both nationally and internationally, and expand our client base. In addition, I hope to continue to implement creative and innovative ideas with my team."
With her creativity, strategic insight and passion for marketing, Daphne is an indispensable force within BVCM. And with her ambitious future plans, we are sure to keep moving as a company. One thing is certain: Daphne is far from finished.💥
